Am I being too negative but I'm thinking if a highly smart intelligent man like Ben Habib can't get elected then it proves to me that the people of this country are just too dumb and hope is ....

NO IT DIDN'T!!! It was a rubbish result that only helped Labour to a bigger win. It is so depressing watching Richard Tice make such an utter horlicks of running a proper opposition party with such WONDERFUL OPEN GOALS. Will some Reform supporters here please urge Tice & Habib to learn to DELEGATE and form a visible Shadow Cabinet? Surely after all this time and by-election flops they must realise they're doing something wrong? The public are screaming out for a proper, tough, hard hitting party on the Right. Reform needs a cabinet of a dozen competent people; a Shadow Immigration Spokesman, a Shadow Chancellor/spokesman, a Spokesman calling out the anti-parent, gender obsessed Marxist education 'service'. A Transport Spokesman demolishing anti-car nonsense. A Spokesman/woman attacking idiotic spending in the NHS on 'diversity and inclusivity' commissars etc. Reform must be seen as a TEAM, not a one man band, with those spokespeople touring British towns and villages, honing their arguments, polishing their speeches and stirring the internet! And Reform needs a top quality but simple newspaper covering all issues, always ready for final tweaks so it can be on the streets days after a by election is called to get the campaign started. Either do this or watch Labour win, and finally destroy what's left of Britain.

Kind of you to say so. I imagine Tice meets many people more energetic than me but he thinks he's better than everyone...and therefore must do everything.

Interestingly Labour won this seat with almost exactly the same number of votes as they received last time when they lost. I suppose this shows that disenchantment with the Cons doesn’t automatically mean votes for Labour, thankfully!

Is this a true breakthrough, I am not so sure. This is a by-elecction and not a general election where these percentages may not be achieved. I have alsovseen forecasts that if reform did attain 10% of the vote it is likely they would not win seats. Reform winning seats has to the bar for a breakthrough to be claimed. This would also be an breakthrough of the FPTP barrier as well. Once reform has seats it becomes more noticeable to the citizinery and can be much more vocal about the two incumbent party's utter incompetence in governing our country.

Could the Tories recover by bringing back Boris? The strength Boris has is leading and winning on a popular issue, he is charismatic and a great figurehead but he is utterly useless at the day to day hard work of governance. I do give Boris credit for supporting Ukraine, this was Boris at his best. He is also firmly at the wet and left wing of the Tory party, he also accepted May's dogs dinner of the Brexit deal with the EU. Gove ditched Boris directly after the Brexit referendum because he saw Boris for what he was, a totally chaotic clown.

Now we are faced with the catastrophe of Labour in power again who will be worse that this current Tory administration for people to see that right of centre is the only viable governance that will ensure success for our country

Thank you very much. I have been at the sharp end of politics before but it's very demanding on one's time and hard for me to get away from my business.

I agree Michael it's all about momentum. We're only a small funded party and have done extremely well in those by elections. Next interesting step is what the Tories are going to do. It was also interesting what Reece Mogg said afterwards about having to look at talking to Reform and also Farages statement that he would be interested in an established party that wanted what he wants......

I wonder if you have contributed to Reform’s fighting fund or joined the party?

Elections are very expensive to fight, which is why the two party hegemony takes so much breaking. There are many people whose only political awareness comes via the MSM meaning they have never even heard of Reform. Reform have a mountain to climb; they need money and much publicity. The constant refrain that Farage must step in may not be as popular as his fans think with the public at large. Reform needs a wider appeal than a ‘star’ one man band with his very particular image. Reform should become a popular revolution!
