This is a setback for Nigel’s long-term strategy. As I understand it, the idea was that a Boris led government would lose to Labour in in a GE but not by much. A fragile Labour/deplorable majority would be more likely to usher-in a change to the First Past The Post voting system enabling Reform to make headway. It now looks more likely that the Conservatives will be wiped-out at a GE, FPTP continuing and Conservative values unrepresented for a generation. I may have to cut-down on my interest in politics to protect my sanity!

Hi Adrian - I actually think the new PM's best chance is to call a snap election quickly and try to build some 'honeymoon' period momentum. Otherwise the PM is going to face years of leading a party crippled by internal divisions and an opposition calling them cowardly for not calling an election.

I hope you won't be cutting down on Heaver News! I generally try to be as positive as possible...

Don’t worry Michael. I’ll always read your articles.

Yes indeed Michael, Rishi has a mountain to climb. Not sure he should risk a GE with the present mood of the country but he needs to pull some rabbits out of the hat.

Sunak is devious, cunning and a smooth talker; everything Truss wasn't. Might be the right choice for now, until Farage gets a new party started. He's the only conservative in British politics.

Farage is facing more and more calls for a return...

You've certainly described Sunak well, Mrs B. 👏

I don’t think Nigel needs to start yet another party Mrs B. Richard Tice is doing a good job with Reform whilst Nigel pursues his media career which let’s face it gives him maximum exposure. When the time is right Nigel can become the Chairman to Tice’s managing director.

There was clearly some disagreement twixt Tice and Farage in Reform. Tice thinks that being nice and not mentioning immigration, not mentioning paedophiles entertaining schoolkids disguised as drag queens, not taking on the BBC for their Marxist bias...are all subjects not to touch. And thus Reform have had by-election results close to the Monster Raving Loony Party, again and again. Remind me what's the best result in numbers of votes that Reform has had? Tice has NO idea how to campaign. The LibDems are 1000% smarter with their slimy messaging.

You obviously know more about what goes on behind the scenes than I do Mrs B. I do think that Reform needs to tread a fine line to avoid the inevitable accusations of racism, islamaphobia, transphobia etc. that can make a brand toxic however unfairly. Nigel avoided this with The Brexit Party. I think many people still associate Nigel with Reform and assume this will be his vehicle but who knows? The saying that a week is a long time in politics is more pertinent than ever!

You've just neatly demonstrated Reform's spineless 'don't say anything controversial' position, which is why it gets microscopic by-election results. Politics is all about saying awkward things and standing up for what's right. Being afraid to talk about black crime levels and levels of fatherless children is precisely why it's out of control, exactly the chaos that the Marxist left wants, and massively damaging to decent black people. Not having the guts to talk about the demonstrable evils of Islam, the misogyny, violence, huge unemployment levels etc, is just putting off the day before the next massively racist Manchester bomb. Not calling out the nonsense of trans issues (Brendan O'Neill does, in Spiked, brilliantly) is just letting the Marxist left grow and grow. So, tell Tice to man up for goodness sake. Georgia Meloni has more guts than Tice has in his little finger, and taking a stand worked for her. And note how the Telegraph today calls Meloni 'Far Right', well she probably does sound 'far right' to the Leftist child journalists now infesting that once great newspaper.

I have to agree with nearly everything you say Mrs Bucket but I fear we are in a minority. Gaining political power involves appealing to a majority, most of whom are not politically engaged and are unaware of the threat from neo-Marxism although there is a spirited fight-back from the likes of The New Culture Forum. A majority of under 30s have been relentlessly brainwashed as you will be aware and this raises huge difficulties in engaging with them in order to become elected. The issues you mention are high on my agenda but rightly or wrongly, to overemphasise them in a political campaign would be political suicide as Nigel will know. The Brexit Party only succeeded after Nigel dumped UKIP and it’s association with Tommy Robinson (who I happen to admire). I had high hopes for Kemi Badenoch - maybe her time will come but a party has to be in power in order to tackle the issues.

I read The Telegraph every day and don’t recognise your description of “leftist child journalists”. The balance seems pretty even and they have some great columnists.

We are engaged in a vicious war with cunning Marxism (relabelled 'Woke' to sound new and innocent). Yes, young people are brainwashed so we have to be MORE cunning and MORE determined than the leftist wreckers. Self censoring on various subjects is EXACTLY what they want us/Tice to do. If you can't see the leftist/pro-EU bias in the Telegraph God help us, and read the angry comments from readers who say exactly what I'm saying: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2022/10/25/how-far-right-italy-became-economic-time-bomb/

Given the opportunity, I would Never be voting for a billionaire globalist to be my Prime Minister. As Richard Tice has already stated, this can only be good for the Reform Party.

Well said Penny and Mrs B. Conservative members being denied a say isn’t going to go down well with the grassroots. Having Sunak thrust upon us by a parliamentary party that largely no longer represents Conservative values really has to be the end. A tragic end to the Conservatives we once knew.

I don't understand why people are saying Boris was good ? What did he do.

1. He threw away a 80 seat majority

2. He dismally failed to get Brexit done.. Fisheries,ECJ,Northern Ireland and Immigration. He had no desire to fix these.

3. He was extremely lucky that our brilliant scientists came up with an antidote to Covid then proceded to screw it all up with lockdown.

4. And then lied to the people and parliament and was given a police fine.

Can anyone tell me what he did do that was good for the country ??

He saved us from Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May.

But the Tories are now the mass immigration and massive debt party, no need for Corbyn. And how could Labour be any worse, when the Tories have imported more of the 3rd world than they ever did?
