The Royal Navy is internationally, legally entitled to block boats on the sea, and demand they turn around and Return.
Such STANDOFFS were not unusual.
If they chose to jump into the water it would result in a rescue and put back on French beaches by the Navy's small craft.
The Naval Officer said that this could have been done from the start. We don't even need to leave the ECHR. This action totally circumvents the courts.
We have a COWARDLY government and a COWARDLY Primeminister who is more concerned about kowtowing to the EU.
We all know what the 2 "main parties" are looking for and rhe only party that wants to help the UK are the Reform Party who I will be voting for..
I read this brilliant comment in the paper this morning about "our" politicians which echoes my thoughts:

You decided that we should pay for foreign aid instead of aiding our own.
You decided that we should all be poorer and hungrier, and our taxes should go on renewables without a referendum.
Your Party PM decided he should knock two democratically elected PMs out of the nest to squat in No.10.
You allowed child rape gangs of foreign nationals to rape White working-class girls.
You are soft on policing and pathetic on sentencing and our streets are unsafe.
You allow stabbers to walk free with a slap on the wrists and terrorists to walk among us.
You and your ilk are the problem.
