Once again the Tories have fallen for the French 3 card trick to stop the migrants. More money to France and the boats will still come. Suella Braverman is still controlled by Sunak and will not take us out of ECHR. Just how much have these migrants cost us being put up in 4* luxury. These migrants should have been put in old Army or RAF camps. They should then be guarded by Army POW style. No deterrent to not come here. Money saved could have gone to nurses. Now migrants are getting ready for free 4* Christmas dinner.
This is good news. Suella as a member of the Cabinet has to abide by collective responsibility and is answerable to the PM. I have no faith the PM wants to withdraw from the ECHR and has effectively constrained Suella. She needs to decide if her position is tenable. The PM needs some right wing representation in the cabinet for party unity, so Suella has some leverage to stand up and say ECHR withdrawal or sack me. Does she have the courage to stand by her convictions or shrivel up like Priti Patel.
My guess is, that as a libertarian the PM thinks there are more downsides than upsides. The hit to the UK's international reputation, especially giving an excuse to authoritarian regimes we in the UK do not value freedom (which is not true), the excuse it will give for lefties and liberals to go into an absolute tantrum and perhaps worrying some on the wet side of the Tory party may be among the reasons. After WW2 we were central to forming the ECHR, it would seem to many that it is shocking we now withdraw. Personally I believe the ECHR have exceeded their remit and are countering our country's democratic will and sovereignty. We have historically relied on common law and bills of rights for our rights and freedom - these may be amended as we need to maintain our continued adherence to democracy and inherent rights.
That's better news but don't forget, most people don't know what they're voting for when they vote for the extreme-left but cleverly-moderate-looking LibDems; they often vote as some sort of protest against Tories in particular. Likewise, a proportion of people will vote Reform to protest at the Tories not realising Reform is a wet fish that has no proper shadow cabinet, no outspoken Economics Spokesman, no rafter rattling Immigration spokesman, no one recognisable speaking about the 5% crime clear up rate, no one appointed as Education spokesman tearing into Woke schools etc etc etc. WHEN REFORM APPOINTS SOME BIG HITTER SPOKESPEOPLE it might start to look like a serious party but the Tory wreckers embedded in Reform are advising Tice not to.
As a lifetime Conservative supporter, I find they are going to be toast at the next election and maybe even the demise of the party, Richy has had his moment of glory he was crowned not elected.
I will vote Reform at the next election along with all my family. I only hope he does not destroy us in the process
Not suprised at all The Cons have now become the Con Party. and more people are moving to Reform, It's shame that JRM will remain in the Con Party So let's see if the Brave Brexiteers will come over to Reform cause right Now Rishi's In over his Head to the EU.

But why does the PM not want to withdraw from the ECHR?

Waste of time Commenting they only get removed if they do not agree

Looks like Braverman has taken the pieces of silver and if Reform don't get some "big hitters" in (Mrs Bucket) then we're in trouble.Come on Nigel..
