Your Poll Vote
Thanks to those of you who voted in the recent poll I did asking you all who you currently intend to vote for. Of those who read this newsletter, 83% currently intend to vote for Reform UK, 15% for the Conservatives, 2% said another party and 1% currently don’t intend to vote.
That Reform percentage is very high and shows the scale of the challenge for the next Conservative Leader if they are to win back the support of many Brexiteers.
As I’ve recently highlighted, the Leaver numbers are not looking good for the Tories right now. Only around half of those who backed Brexit currently intend to vote Tory with around one in ten Leavers overall now backing Reform.
If that played out at a General Election, the Conservatives would be crushed.
Liz Truss is of course the heavy favourite to win the Tory leadership race. Finally triggering Article 16 and allowing Suella Braverman as Home Secretary to spearhead leaving the ECHR would be a good start.
What England Thinks
As a very proud Englishman the balance of having a Scottish Parliament, Welsh Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly, but no English Parliament, seems fundamentally unfair.
How about abolishing the unelected House of Lords and replacing it with an English Parliament?
More broadly we always see plenty of opinion polls and surveys of what the Scottish people think for instance. But when is the last time you saw an England-only poll?
Well there has been a rare one released by YouGov. The ‘State of the Union’ poll of English voters shows 12% are now in favour of England leaving the UK, with 63% against.
Interestingly 21% of English Leave voters are in favour of England leaving the UK, compared to only 7% of English Remainers.
The poll also finds that 15% of English voters would be pleased if Scotland left the UK, compared to 50% who would be upset.
And when it comes to identity, 22% of Leavers in England describe themselves as ‘English, not British’ with a further 16% describing themselves as ‘more English than British’.
An interesting insight into what England thinks and I may look myself at trying to get some more polling done on this in the future!
Crisis Continues
I feel it is important to keep highlighting the scale of the illegal migration crisis. Some in Remainstream media are absolutely determined to do their best to ignore the shocking reality of what is going on. This newsletter will keep giving you the facts.
It may not have hit the headlines but on Saturday a further 915 migrants crossed on 19 boats in a single day.
This is a catastrophe and the next Prime Minister will need to stop this situation from escalating even further. Last year’s record of 28,000 people crossing on small boats from France will be shattered by the vast numbers we are seeing in 2022.
The Government’s Rwanda strategy having been blocked by a European Court is a complete embarrassment. Let’s hope the next PM has the guts to stop this disaster.
Hi Michael, as a person who, lives in North Wales, English speaking, I can only say this, I for one would Welcome the Welsh asembly to be returned to the House Westminister, Why? Because I don't believe, that this Country is Better off being Divided up, as a Untied Kingdom we stand better together, I'm no Fan of Mark Drakeford, and he's held the Welsh people Back.
