Hello all and welcome back to Heaver News, I hope you are well.
A big thanks to NW for becoming my latest paid supporter. If you enjoy these articles consider upgrading so that you can read them all as well as supporting Heaver News.
As I wrote in the previous newsletter, it seems clear now that Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives intend to shift away from some of the mad green agenda after announcing new oil and gas licences.
This has significant public support and demonstrates that the Tories now have an eye on the next General Election. Sunak certainly seems to be somewhat in campaign mode with his messaging.
Thanks as ever for the comments from paid subscribers in response to the last newsletter. Suzanne’s response I imagine speaks for quite a few readers of this newsletter. She commented:
“Thank you for all your excellent work, Michael.
“It's a no-brainer. Why import when we have our own stock in the UK? This will make the costs cheaper, make us independent of rogue states around the world, and greatly reduce our Carbon Footprint.
“Those who are against it are being disingenuous for sheer political reasons, not for the good of the climate.
“But it's still Reform for me!”
Of course a key question for the Tories is can they manage to win back those who have switched to backing Reform UK.
Another paid supporter, RW52, demonstrated the challenge facing the Tories with his comment:
“At the moment my vote is still with Reform.
“Let's not forget Sunak is good at talking. Let's see what he DOES about Net Zero and of course the illegals and now the banking fiasco.”
Paid subscriber Charles meanwhile wants to see action from the Government when it comes to fracking:
“Brilliant news the North Sea licences have been issued, what about fracking?
“We have heard more recent rhetoric from both Starmer and Sunak, that aligns better with common sense and what the majority of the voters want. Do we believe them?
“Sunak has refused to move the 2030 deadline on Diesel and Petrol cars - but perhaps because he does not have to. It’s too far in the future to make a controversial political decision now.
“Our political system is utterly shortsighted and does not make the best decision for our nation for the long term."
So clearly the Government’s move has won some support - but they still have a long way to go.
Thanks to all of you who read and support this newsletter. I’m optimistic about the future and one of the reasons for that is the exciting shift in the media landscape.
Don’t forget, not long ago the limited choice for people in terms of media gave huge power to those in charge of legacy TV channels.
Even the BBC backed with a huge, absurd Licence Fee is beginning to struggle now though.
The public, sick of being bombarded and lectured by bizarre woke dross, are turning off the old TV channels.
This is a hugely positive development and the diminishing power of lefty TV execs has been demonstrated in Ofcom’s latest report.
