It remains pretty crystal clear that the Conservative Government followed up their 2019 General Election win by simply ignoring their own voters - and the country.

A post-Brexit electoral realignment was in their grasp, having won scores of seats the Tories had never previously held.

But instead of holding on to and solidifying this shift, they have largely thrown it all away.

Instead of cutting levels of immigration as Brexit voters, their own voters and the country at large wants to see, they’ve done the exact opposite.

The Tories in office have instead delivered new record high levels of net migration, with England’s population already having surged by 6.5% between 2011 and 2021.

Now we are forecast for a further population increase of 6.6 million people between 2021 and 2036, nearly all of which will be driven by net migration.

On top of that you have the horrendous small boats crisis that the Government have failed to stop year after year. Still they refuse to ditch the ECHR. Still no flights to Rwanda.

Then yesterday we saw some more astonishing figures that spell out why the Tories are on course for a crushing defeat at the next election.

Suella Braverman actually summed up the situation:

“1.4 million people were granted visas here last year.

“Asylum approvals at a record high.

“Work & student visa numbers, including many dependents, are appalling.

“This cannot go on: we don’t have enough homes, GPs or schools to support this level.

“The PM must adopt policies I pushed for that would have prevented this national disaster: we need a cap on overall numbers.

“Britain will be unrecognisable if this carries on. It’s not what the British people, including me, voted for.”

These figures simply demonstrate that once again the British public are not being listened to.
