Reader Poll Results
I asked readers of this newsletter in my last article to vote whether you would currently vote for the Conservatives or Reform UK.
The result was totally overwhelming with 98% of those who voted saying they would currently vote Reform.
This underlines a trend I’ve been highlighting for a while now. A significant proportion - around 20% - of Tory voters and Leavers currently intend to vote Reform.
Sunak’s New Deal
So can Rishi Sunak’s Government turn it around and win back your support?
With over 40,000 people having crossed from France on small boats this year alone, illegal immigration has rocketed up the political agenda.
Yesterday the Prime Minister set out his plan to tackle the crisis which includes a new deal with Albania.
I don’t expect that the new measures announced will stop the boats. The Home Secretary Suella Braverman has previously set out the need for the UK to leave the ECHR - and there is no sign of that happening.
What is looking increasingly likely right now is that a lot of Conservative MPs could lose their seats at the next election. Possibly even including Rishi Sunak himself.
Conservative Wipeout
A new Savanta election seat forecast is absolutely brutal when it comes to the prospects of the Conservative Party.
The findings are so dramatic that even Sunak’s seat could now be at risk.
