It has been a difficult week for myself and so many others.
The passing of Patrick O’Flynn is a massive loss to us all. I paid tribute to my friend this week here. I will miss Patrick terribly. He was a truly great man. RIP.
Not only was he a thoroughly decent human being, but Patrick was well known for his incredible journalism.
He also possessed a mighty understanding of political dynamics from his work as a journalist and commentator over the years, and also having been an elected politician.
So it speaks volumes that in February, Patrick said this of Keir Starmer’s Chagos Islands surrender deal:
“The transfer of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius at the behest of a highly political and anti-British foreign tribunal which has no jurisdiction in the matter, is the most disgusting and anti-patriotic policy advanced by any British government in my lifetime.”
Sadly, this is a deal that has now been signed off.
As with Labour’s EU surrender, this new Treaty hammers Britain.
It shows how much a Reform Government will have to do to turn things around.
