Starmer On The Brink
Weak Labour have failed.
Wow. What a set of elections.
As well as being elected as a Reform UK Councillor myself, it is incredible to see the scale of Reform gains across the country.
It contrasts with the total collapse of Labour and a Conservative Party steadily sinking into oblivion whilst remaining in complete denial.
Labour’s sharp decline leaves Keir Starmer on the brink as Labour Leader and Prime Minister, and it is increasingly difficult to see how he hangs on.
When you look at the number of votes cast across England, Scotland and Wales, Reform led with 3,825,559 votes.
That’s nearly one million more votes than Labour received. And remember that this set of elections included London.
The Tories meanwhile were nearly overtaken by the Greens in terms of number of votes.
There are actually too many dramatic results for me to go through them all. But I’ll give you a few examples.
Reform has taken control of Essex County Council after surging to 53 seats. The Tories have been left with 13 and Labour have just one.
And that is on a turnout of over 43%, the highest for decades.
In Suffolk, the Conservatives plunged from 55 seats to 9, with Reform winning 41.
We have seen Reform emerge as the largest party in places like Birmingham and Bradford.
The likes of Hartlepool, Barnsley and Wakefield have seen Reform win a majority of the seats up for election.
For the Scottish Parliament, Reform tied Labour with 17 seats each with the SNP leading on 58.
Whilst in Wales, Plaid Cymru emerged as the winners with 43 seats and Reform came second on 34.
Meanwhile Labour, the Conservatives, the Greens and the Liberal Democrats only won 19 seats between all four of them.
So there is little doubt that both Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch are leading their parties towards a General Election wipeout.
Badenoch’s party seem happy for her to go on in the role after two rounds of heavy Conservative losses across the country.
But Starmer is facing a potential leadership challenge.
You’ll note lots of Labour politicians talking about vague ‘change’.
Their big idea seems to be shackling up even closer to the European Union.
A desperate move from a Government and party out of ideas, that has let the country down badly.
This latest set of election results are a verdict on Labour in Government: they’ve been rejected.
