A Liz Truss premiership that started off with such hope of a radical policy agenda that challenged establishment orthodoxies has instead buckled, caved in and now sits fatally discredited.
Brexiteers have left the Government, the most senior roles are now mostly Remainer-dominated and Reform UK’s support is rising.
The complete shambles that unfolded during last night’s Parliamentary vote is bad enough. There was mass confusion over resignations and Conservative MPs unsure as to whether the fracking vote was a confidence vote or not.
But even more worrying is the departure of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary. I have written before about the absurdity of having a Home Sec advocating leaving the ECHR, but unable to implement that policy. A farce.
And now Braverman has gone, taking much lingering Brexiteer support for Truss with her, I suspect.
Make no mistake about it: at the heart of Braverman’s departure lies a fundamental ideological split with Truss.
