We cannot go on like this.
Despite having had years now to stop the illegal migrant boats, both Tory and Labour Governments have simply refused to do what is necessary.
The public are getting increasingly sick and tired of this. We’ve now seen evidence of that in Portsmouth as well.
This system is fundamentally unfair and is costing the country a fortune. No wonder people are beyond frustrated.
We now learn from a Home Office whistleblower that only one in one hundred asylum claims are genuine.
This is the grotesque system that has been constructed and has spun out of all control.
No wonder then that immigration and border policy is now the number one issue for the public:
“The August 2026 Ipsos Issues Index shows that immigration continues to be seen as the biggest issue facing Britain.
“Forty-two per cent of Britons name immigration as an important issue facing the country, relatively unchanged since last month.”
Yes to confirm, immigration is now viewed as the number one issue facing Britain, even ahead of the economy:
“Concern about immigration remains particularly high among Reform UK (81%) and Conservative (54%) supporters, those aged 55+ (52%) and people in social grades C2DE (47%).
“The economy remains the second-biggest issue facing Britain for August, mentioned by 32% of Britons and up two percentage points since July. Inflation is the third-biggest concern at 21%, while the NHS is fourth on 20%.”
As ever, problems can be solved. Broken Britain can be fixed.
I was at the Reform Conference in Birmingham where we saw what a plan to stop this madness actually looks like.
France’s Jordan Bardella - who has a good chance of soon becoming French PM - gave a tremendous speech.
He also signed a Memorandum of Understanding alongside Nigel Farage that gives a solid insight as to how the boats will actually be finally stopped:
“It commits a future National Rally-led French government to accept the return of illegal migrants who launch from French shores, enter British territorial waters and are returned to France.
“The agreement would support Reform UK’s proposed Operation Fortress, under which the Royal Navy and Royal Marines would intercept small boats, remove everyone on board, and return those attempting to reach the UK illegally to France.”
This is the sort of actual plan the country is crying out for.
Because what we’re seeing right now is unacceptable. And it has been for years.
The Government try and spin that the situation is being dealt with. It isn’t. Another 16,000 people have already been allowed to cross this year.
That means 209,000 have been allowed to cross illegally from France to England on boats under Labour and Tory Governments.
It simply cannot go on.

It is so pleasing to learn of the quiet opposition to the boats seen at Dover and Portsmouth. 'There is power in silence'. The left fail to see this, and term them all as thugs. It will please us all the more when these so called 'thugs' tick their ballot slips during the next election.
