A stunning achievement. Yet one that looked increasingly likely over the past few days.
Reform UK have pulled ahead of the Conservatives for the first time in a national poll.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Tory Party are now the third party, according to this latest research. It’s Reform who are the main challengers to Labour now.
A YouGov poll out last night found Reform hitting 19%, with the Conservatives on just 18%.
Labour are leading on 37% with the Liberal Democrats on 14%.
A Sunak Government that promised to stop the boats, then didn’t, is now paying the price in the most extraordinary (and well deserved) way.
The high tax and high immigration agenda of the current Conservative administration has left many previously staunch Tories completely disillusioned.
And now Reform will hope to build further by attracting those currently intending to vote Labour just to get the Tories out. There is another viable alternative on the table.
The news of this historic poll broke just minutes before last night’s ITV Debate and Nigel made sure to highlight the polling crossover, easily winning the debate.
Penny Mordaunt struggled to land any blows and the Tory Party’s messaging looks increasingly desperate. They are scrambling.
Of course this is one poll from one pollster. But the trend is now clear and this makes it far harder for the Tories to try and squeeze Reform’s support.
As Farage said last night:
“A vote for the Conservatives is now a vote for Labour.”
Let’s see if Reform can now firmly establish themselves as the main challenger to Keir Starmer’s Labour Party.
Fabulous news, a glimmer of hope, now Nigel needs to follow through and appoint prominent, key spokespeople - firstly a tough, no nonsense, Nigel Lawson sized Economics Spokesman to rip Labour into small pieces. Then an Energy Spokesman to give the Climatidiots all the heat and sparks they deserve for their utter twaddle. And so on. We don't want another 4 million votes/one seat UKIP result.
I'm. imagining voters with rings through their noses being pulled by the MSM. This polling shows the continuing upward trend for Reform but also shows Tories static with Ed Davey taking votes from Labour as well.. Labour are sliding a bit. Corbyn got 36% in 2017. Three weeks to go. I wonder if Starmer's heading for a '92 Kinnock with Galloway unseating Rayner for that Portillo moment.
