A shameful day as this crisis continues to escalate.

Crisis Hits Record Levels
Monday set a disgraceful new record for illegal migration to England. 1,295 people crossed from France on 27 boats in a single day.
Anyone suggesting that the Government have got a grip on this, or are anywhere near stopping this dangerous situation, is being deluded.
This is the shocking reality of a continuing illegal migration crisis that has been allowed to escalate for years.
If Liz Truss becomes Prime Minister, as looks likely, she has one chance to tackle this issue straight away.
She must, as has been rumoured, appoint Suella Braverman as Home Secretary and allow her to get the UK out of ECHR. Anything short of that is likely to be ineffective and lead to a further escalation of the crisis.
Along with many disgusted and angry Conservative voters, some Tory MPs have had enough now too.
Blackpool South MP Scott Benton wrote yesterday:
“Stopping this has to be a top priority for the incoming PM. Do whatever it takes. Enough is enough.
“My constituents are sick and tired of seeing these images. No ifs, no buts, we must find a way to stop this embarrassing farce.”
The Government response so far of talking about policies that never happen (turning boats back to France, Rwanda strategy) is frankly pathetic.
The Conservative Government must put a stop to this or they have no chance of winning another majority at the next election.
Tice Steps Up Reform Pressure
That is underlined by comments yesterday from Reform UK Leader Richard Tice.
Responding to Monday’s record figures, Tice wrote:
“So 1,295 illegal migrants in 1 day…another £50 million liability for British taxpayers in year 1… At some 23,000 illegal migrants this year, this is effectively a stealth invasion.”
The Reform Party, already backed by 9% of Leave voters in the latest YouGov research, have pledged to campaign to leave ECHR at the next election.
Tice has once again committed to standing a huge number of Reform candidates at the General Election.
He has confirmed:
“We will be full slate of 600+ candidates so not messing around.”
And when someone questioned just how many seats Reform will actually contest, Tice hit back:
“You will lose your bet. We will not be in Northern Ireland otherwise plan to be everywhere. No ifs no buts.”
This may not be seen as a huge factor yet but it will be the closer we get to the next election.
I would be interested to know from readers: are you currently intending to vote for the Reform Party, the Conservatives, another party or no one at all?
Frost Lined Up For Big Role
One way the next Conservative PM could get on the front foot of course is by appointing a Brexiteer Cabinet that gets on with delivering actual conservative policies.
The team Liz Truss has apparently lined up is already winning some over: Kemi Badenoch, Suella Braverman, Sir John Redwood and Jacob Rees-Mogg all getting big jobs would be very popular with the Brexiteer voters the Tories need to win back.
Of course we have had rumours that Lord Frost, another popular figure with Conservatives, could return as Brexit Minister or even Foreign Secretary.
It seems Brussels perhaps won’t have to deal with ‘Frosty The No Man’ again quite yet however.
The Sun instead report that Frost is being lined up by Truss to run the Cabinet Office.
Lord Frost told The Sun:
"No-one should be speculating about future roles in government while the leadership election is still not even over.
“I continue to be fully behind Liz as the best candidate for future PM.”
I still think appointing Frost to a role back in charge of dealing with the EU would be a canny move and drive hardcore Remoaners mad.
