The amount of damage done by Labour in one year is extraordinary.
Yet there is hope. The tide of public opinion has shifted in a remarkable way that is truly inspiring.
And if damage can be done like this during a one year anniversary of power, it does also show the changes that can be made by a Reform Government in a relatively short period of time as well.
I do sometimes like to use lefty sources so that even hardcore, tribal Labour supporters find it harder to deny reality.
Try this for size from The Guardian last month:
“At least 250,000 jobs lost since Rachel Reeves’s autumn budget, data shows…More than a quarter of a million jobs have been lost in Britain since Rachel Reeves’s autumn budget, official figures show, fuelling a rise in unemployment to the highest level in almost four years.”
If we focus today just on the economy, we see that Labour have learnt nothing.
They’ve raised taxes again, and who ultimately loses out? Workers and smaller businesses doing their best to survive, as Reuters recently reported:
“Almost one third of small and medium-sized British employers have made staff redundant or are thinking about job cuts as a direct result of the increase in their social security bills, an industry group said on Thursday.
“The British Chambers of Commerce said 13% of more than 570 member firms it surveyed had cut jobs and 19% were actively considering such a move as result of April's hike in employers' National Insurance Contributions ordered by Finance Minister Rachel Reeves.”
On top if this is the bleak reality that this Government have literally triggered a wealth exodus out of our country.
Wealthy individuals, who of course contribute high levels of tax, are leaving in droves.
As City AM have recently covered:
“The UK will lose more millionaires than any country in the world this year, a fresh study has claimed, as a combination of punitive tax hikes on wealth and a stubbornly stagnant economy continue to push some of the richest residents abroad.
“According to Henley & Partners’ annual Wealth Migration Report, the UK will haemorrhage 16,500 millionaires over the course of 2025, more than double the 7,800 forecast to quit second-placed China, which until this year had topped report’s exit leader board for 10 straight years.”
So as the Government allow huge numbers of illegal migrants to come to this country and the asylum budget balloons into the billions, those who contribute financially in a huge way are actually leaving.
Both are alarming trends. And the end result? It’s going to be ordinary workers and small businesses just trying to get by who will inevitably be whacked by more Labour tax rises.
This is a broken system that needs a total overhaul. And the British public know it.
So as Labour accelerate the decline we saw under the Conservatives, the verdict from voters is clear: we need a radically different approach.
More In Common’s mega MRP poll points to the Reform revolt continuing to gather momentum:
“More in Common’s new MRP projects Reform UK would be in touching distance of a majority if the General Election were today.
“Based on polling of over 10,000 Britons, the model estimates that, Reform UK would be the largest party with 290 MPs - more than twice as many as any other party.”
Specifically, they find that:
“Reform UK would be projected to become the largest party with 290 seats, emerging as the clear frontrunner in a multi party race.
”Labour is second on 126 seats - losing 285 of the seats they won just a year ago and leaving them with fewer than half as many seats as Reform.
”Conservatives take third place - their number of MPs falling to double figures, putting them just 8 seats ahead of the Liberal Democrats.”
This amounts to sustained, growing momentum for Reform throughout this year:
“Reform have been able to capitalise on momentum from successful local election results - in April we projected Reform could win 180 seats, they have continued to gain strength in the last few months with a further 110 constituencies that could elect a Reform MP.
“Most of Reform’s gains come from Labour-held seats. They have advanced in seats Labour gains - taking 136 of the seats that Labour gained from the Conservatives in 2024.
“Reform is also managing to grow support in Conservative areas - winning 59 seats that the Tories held in 2024.”
And after a year of Keir Starmer’s Labour in power, it is Nigel Farage’s Reform who clearly are the main opposition now:
“Labour’s main losses are to Reform - 223 seats directly flip from Labour to Reform, including many long-standing Labour constituencies in the North of England and in Wales.
“Under this projection, you could walk from Workington to Hartlepool, and then all the way down the East of England to Clacton without leaving a Reform seat.”
So, one year later and the verdict is in: the public already want this Labour Government replaced by a Reform one.
You may have to walk from Workington to Hartlepool to Dover, as you won’t be able to afford a car at this rate and anyway Clinically Insane Milliband will have banned everything except wind powered cars.
"This is a broken system that needs a total overhaul. And the British public know it." To say unwanted mass immigration and total ban on free speech (Banter Police) is "is is a broken system that needs a total overhaul." is like saying "concentration camps were a sign that the German political system was "broken". Its a breathtaking understatement. When the programme to shut down free speech and totallycontrol SPEECH is advanced sufficiently, what's next on the agenda? Look at the development of any far left society and you will find the answer: criticism of the government becomes a criminal offence with dawn arrests and secret detentions. Already allowed in principle under the terror laws.
