Some new research demonstrates just why so many in Westminster are petrified about Nigel Farage returning to frontline politics.
But before we get to that - I enjoyed reading the many comments from paid subscribers in response to my previous article asking whether you trusted Rishi Sunak’s new hint at maybe, perhaps, leaving the ECHR one day.
This was Penny’s verdict:
“If he cared, he'd get us out of the ECHR and then he could actually keep his promise to stop the boats, instead of taking credit for fewer numbers last year, which was eff all to do with him and everything to do with bad weather conditions.
“He continues to take us for fools....and we're not!”
Whilst RW52 couldn’t be clearer:
“Sunak is all over the place...it's embarrassing to be honest.
“We have him lying to us, and the kneeler not telling us anything!
“What a mess we're in…VOTE REFORM.”
And Patrick had this to say:
“Should we believe him? Of course not.
“He’s had ample opportunity to enact conservative policies. He’s not going to start now.
“We will see more and more such hints and promises in the coming months, all designed to pick off the gullible who might otherwise vote Reform.
“Raucous laughter should be the reaction at every opportunity.”
Whilst Hilary is also unconvinced about Sunak’s ability to deliver:
“No I don’t believe Rishi or his puppet masters would leave ECHR, and if it was put into their manifesto it would be a promise broken like so many others.”
This sort of scepticism from paid supporters of Heaver News towards Sunak’s Government underlines the voter backlash the Tory Party is currently experiencing.
Indeed in some national polls, Brexit voters are now more likely to say they’ll vote for Reform UK than any other party. The Tories have basically thrown away Leaver support since 2019.
No wonder then that so many fear Nigel Farage making a political comeback and further turbo-charging Reform’s support.
The 2024 verdict on Farage from the public is in - and it is a disaster for the Remainstream establishment. These really are incredible figures.
