Good morning and welcome back to Heaver News! It is really encouraging as ever to see so many new subscribers and a particular thanks to the many paid supporters backing this newsletter in 2023. I appreciate your support.
I enjoy reading the feedback from paid subscribers and the recent clash between Lord Frost and Nigel Farage that I wrote about drew some strong responses.
Lia’s view was pretty clear and something I’m hearing more and more:
“Sorry Mr Frost, the Conservatives have had their chance and they blew it! Reform UK for me.”
Whilst Adrian’s verdict was that:
“Whilst it would be wonderful if the Conservatives would become true Conservatives I fear that the parliamentary party has been hijacked by the globalists to such an extent that there’s no way back and the centre-right have lost the battle.”
Clearly a lot of work for the Tories to be getting on with if they want to win back the support Heaver News readers.
JRM vs. The Blob
Jacob Rees-Mogg is leading the charge in urging the Government to get on with reviewing and repealing EU laws.
It has become an issue where the Conservative Government seem to be more infatuated with dithering and delaying than delivering.
We’ve even had the ridiculous spectacle of the Remain-dominated House of Lords being blamed. Excuses, excuses.
In many ways this sums up the weakness we have seen from a Government wielding a huge majority gifted from Brexit voters.
A lack of delivery on Brexit opportunities, Westminster establishment blocking and Bloomberg even reported senior civil servants requesting Rishi Sunak delay a bonfire of EU laws until 2026! How swampy.
If the Prime Minister goes along with this dither and delay agenda that will encapsulate perfectly why many Leavers are switching to Reform UK. Get on with it!
EU Dealing
A huge amount of time has been wasted with UK-EU negotiations over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Multiple Prime Ministers have had the opportunity to trigger Article 16 - and absolutely nothing has happened.
Bear in mind that Lord Frost, then in Government back in December 2021, was saying back then that:
“A solution needs to be found urgently early next year.
“For as long as there is no agreed solution, we remain ready to use the Article 16 safeguard mechanism if that is the only way to protect the prosperity and stability of Northern Ireland and its people.”
Instead of finally taking unilateral action it looks like the Government want a deal with the European Union. A joint statement with the EU was put out yesterday revealing where talks now are.
