When it came to the research I highlighted - that voters still would prefer Boris Johnson as Prime Minister compared to the likes of Rishi Sunak, David Cameron or Theresa May - Barbara said:
“Boris Johnson has a mandate from the country, unlike Sunak.
“I'd have him back in a heartbeat. I think the Conservatives would have a chance then.”
I suspect many who voted Tory back in 2019 and have subsequently seen multiple changes in Conservative Leader - without being asked - will feel the same.
As to the prospect of the Tories pledging to finally ditch the ECHR in their next manifesto, RW52 had this to say:
“Even if Sunak says he'll put leaving the ECHR in the manifesto I won't believe him, that's how far everything has got in our politics.
“I think the Reform Party is waiting for the right time and for Nigel Farage to finish his other commitments.
“Quite a long time before the next GE.
“As we have seen with the rise in the right in Europe...it has been very quick?”
Mrs. Bucket meanwhile is clearly pretty sceptical about Reform’s prospects, writing:
“Still talking up Reform Michael, you're dreaming. Sadly, Tice has absolutely NO IDEA how to win, it's painful watching him miss massive open goals.”
Whatever your outlook on the next General Election, one thing is for certain: the public are ready to vote!
That isn’t just me presuming - new research has revealed how overwhelming that urge now is.
