We’ve got a great little community building and as ever Mrs Bucket pulled no punches in response to ‘Braverman Is Right - Multiculturalism Has Failed’:
“The solutions for Britain are fantastically simple!
“All we need is for the Conservative Party to start being Conservatives, working for the British people…and keep laughing at Labour; highlight a daft policy or person every week until the GE.”
Whilst Penny is one of those looking ahead to the next US Presidential Election:
“As for the US, with Biden in charge I think they've got lots of problems....love him or loathe him I think that the world was a safer place under Trump.”
When it comes to Britain, what we’ve seen play out this week has been truly appalling.
The shambles surrounding the Speaker Lindsay Hoyle could be dismissed as procedural Westminster bubble stuff - if not for the fact that events appear to have played out in response to threats against MPs and a baying mob.
Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman - who the Tories should have listened to long ago - gave her assessment on the disturbing developments:
“The mask has slipped: in hock to Islamists, Starmer is responsible for one of the most shameful days of our democracy.
“Enough of the hand-wringing & apologies. Turning a blind eye to fanatics has got us into this situation: it must stop.”
Whilst Robert Jenrick, another on the Conservative benches who actually seems to get it, said this:
“Yesterday was a dark day for our democracy.
“It’s part of a pattern of Islamist extremists intimidating those they disagree with, backed by the prospect of violence.
“We must call it what it is and have the confidence in our liberal values to push back robustly.”
So once again you have a terrible state for the country to find itself in, with many Conservative MPs slamming the status quo that their party has overseen and allowed.
The Reform UK Leader Richard Tice meanwhile hit out:
“Chaos and security risk to MPs is due to PM & Met chief allowed hateful antisemitic marches to continue after Oct 7th.
“If had been banned, as I called for, pro-Hamas thugs would not have run riot over these months.
“Weak gutless leadership has led to this.”
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that amongst Brexit voters, Reform are now actually very close to becoming the most popular party.
I don’t believe this research has been covered by anyone else yet - but it represents a huge moment.
