Excellent article....fingers crossed that Nigel does make a comeback, and soon.

As Martin infers, a Nigel comeback leading an insurgent centre-right party would only be possible under proportional representation. Would a Labour government really implement this though? Would it be in Labour’s interest if they were in power in a Labour/lib-undem/green/SNP coalition of undesirables?

Let’s hope they will think so and play into Nigel’s hands. Nigel Seems to have the energy and drive to make a comeback and he seems to me to be the only hope we have to overhaul our current failing system. As Martin says, timing is everything.

I travel around the UK and meet ALL kinds of people and there is a lot of people disillusioned with politics at the moment and crying out for a new party.

I think it is the same in the US. Donald Trump managed to tap into the swathes of citizens that had really lost their political voice, and had been abandoned by both mainstream parties. I think there are parallels in the UK, evidenced by red wall voters. Those voters have now been betrayed by Tories (and Labour is just ghastly) and I agree with you we need a new party.

If Labour won with a big majority, the last thing they would do is go for PR. Let us not kid ourselves. If I read the situation right, are we really witnessing a political realignment, between globalist and those who believe in the nation state, social conservatism etc? Both left (Labour) and right (Cons) have a large majority of globalists, who want to get closer to EU (they will definitely want to get access with the Single Market - which they claim would satisfy the 'leave vote' (yes I know that would be a lie)). There are small political parties who are anti globalist with both right and left leanings (SDP, Reform, etc). Would it take a coalition of all of these to break through the FPTP ceiling and at least establish a foothold for the saving of our country. Once that barrier had been crashed we could then seriously make inroads. I personally like Nigel, we owe him a huge debt, but I was on the doorsteps campaigning for the Brexit party in S. Wales for the MEP election. I found that Nigel was a bit like marmite, feelings for him were rarely away from the extremes. I think we need to think deeply about whether we play the "left and right" game with the big parties and instead stand and attack both of them on the anti British/ family/freedom globalist agenda.
