Already the usual suspects are trying to play down the severity of what happened last night.
As usual, simply ignore the establishment line on what Germany’s election result means.
Here is the reality.
Three parties were governing in Germany as part of a coalition.
The left-wing SPD, led by Olaf Scholz, just collapsed down to around 16% and third place.
We also saw the Greens decline since the last election.
And the liberal Free Democrats have dipped below the 5% threshold. That means no seats.
This was a comprehensive hammering for those who have been running Germany for the past few years.
German industry is being sacrificed at the altar of the green agenda. An economy in trouble, a Eurozone that is stagnant.
To give you an idea as to the scale of economic destruction being witnessed in Germany right now, consider this: Volkswagen alone have announced 35,000 job cuts by 2030. 35,000!
The brutal deindustralisation of European economies is a total scandal. This is the stark reality of Net Zero for workers.
So Germany’s result now indicates a thirst for massive changes.
With over 20% of the vote in second place, it seems the AFD are on course to win 150+ seats.
Some have downplayed that result for the party. But it basically means the AFD’s support has doubled in just four years.
The winners of the election though, the CDU/CSU conservatives, now face a real choice.
Friedrich Merz, the conservative leader, has won on a platform of stopping illegal immigration and putting industry before the damaging green agenda.
Merz could form a majority with the AFD in Government - but has vowed not to do so.
In which case the conservatives in Germany are likely to govern alongside those rejected at the ballot box, who lost huge numbers of seats: the Social Democrats or even the Greens.
It is hard to see Merz being able to deliver on his campaign pledges whilst governing with the Left. Yet it seems that inevitably is what is to come.
A so-called ‘grand coalition’ Government comprising of the CDU/CSU and SPD would mean that the AFD would officially become the main opposition party in Germany.
Let’s hope politicians in Germany are finally listening. It is quite astonishing to see the degree to which immigration was the defining issue of this election.
YouGov’s research showed voters viewed immigration as a much higher concern than anything else, even the economy.
80% of German voters said immigration over the last decade has been too high.
Just 13% said migration into Germany over recent years had been mostly good.
Will Germany’s new Government finally listen to the people?
If they went into coalition with the AFD they'd have to deliver. The fact they're looking for coalition with the leftist parties that were hammered tells you they're looking to betray their promise....bit like the Tories campaigned on a promise to control migration even though they didn't really want Brexit then adopted it to stay in power then did the opposite.
Stand by for the betrayal as the Germans find out the CDU have done the same and the AFD will hammer them in 2029.
I see the media is still calling the AfD 'the far right populist' party for being dead centre and SENSIBLE - and daring to be POPULAR - isn't that how democracy works? Not to the loony, Marxist very UNPOPULAR Far Left trying to destroy Europe.
