It should come as no surprise that Reform UK are now leading in the polls.
YouGov’s latest research reveals that immigration is now ahead of the economy as the most important issue for voters.
51% of the country now name immigration as a top issue, compared to 48% who say the same about the economy. Health (32%) and defence (29%) both trail as well.
The illegal boat crossings continue. As Nigel Farage has pointed out today:
“This morning marked 20,000 people who have crossed the English Channel in small boats this year.
“It is a record and will only increase if we continue to give them everything when they arrive.”
The illegal migration crisis remains totally out of control. Labour have no answers to actually stop it, nor did the Conservatives.
It begins by taking back control and ditching the ECHR.
But when it comes to legal migration, the Office for National Statistics have released more data that underlines why immigration is now the number one issue for people in this country.
Frankly, we’ve seen an extreme policy implemented and overseen by both Labour and Conservative Governments.
Just consider these statistics from the ONS:
“The population of England is projected to increase by 6.4% between mid-2022 and mid-2032 compared with 5.9% for the UK.
“Between mid-2022 and mid-2032 the population is projected to increase across all regions as well as in 302 of the 309 local authorities in England (based on 2021 boundaries).
“Tower Hamlets is projected to be the fastest growing local authority between mid-2022 and mid-2032, with a 20.4% projected population increase (excludes the City of London).”
Remainstream media often highlights lack of prison space, people struggling to access the NHS services they need, pressure on school places and housing stock.
But they almost always focus exclusively on supply rather than demand.
If you increase the population of England by over 6% in the next ten years, then of course you need to increase capacity by the same degree.
If you don’t? Then the quality of life diminishes for all.
It’s a pretty basic concept. Yet one that is often ignored. This is how irresponsible levels of mass migration result in a lower quality of life for those in this country, particularly the poorest.
I mean do you seriously think this is sensible? As the ONS set out:
“The population of England is projected to increase by 6.4% between mid-2022 and mid-2032, from 57.1 million in mid-2022 to 60.8 million in mid-2032.
“By mid-2047, the population of England is projected to be 64.4 million.”
We already know what the pressure on public services, infrastructure and housing is like now. If we go down this route, it is likely to get even worse:
“The South West is projected to be the fastest-growing region; its population is projected to increase by 7.5% by mid-2032, an increase of 430,000 people.
“The North East is the region with the slowest projected population growth in both absolute and percentage terms, with a projected increase of 130,000 people, or 4.8%.”
It isn’t all doom and gloom though. There is an alternative to this pretty crazy population explosion fuelled by mass migration.
For the first time, the ONS also modelled the Reform policy of zero net migration:
“In this release, for the first time, we have published a zero net migration variant, which shows the projected change based on zero international migration and zero migration between England and the rest of the UK.”
With the prospect of a Reform Government closer than ever before, we don’t have to follow down the Tory and Labour path of a constant population surge.
It would be far better for all in our country if migration numbers were reduced to a sensible level to ease the pressure on housing and everything else.
Fundamentally though it all underlines just how extreme the policy we’ve seen in recent years is.
It is population growth on a scale not seen before - and it’s been badly damaging to the country.
Just to highlight once again how dramatic what we’ve seen in recent years is, I’ll leave you with this, again from the ONS:
“The population of England and Wales continues to grow; although increasing at a similar rate to the previous 12 months, the year to mid-2023 saw the largest annual increase in at least 75 years, growing by almost 610,000 to 60.9 million.”
If you’re happy with that, keep voting Labour or Tory. Personally, I think we need urgent Reform.
The reason they have no answers is because they are not even looking for them. In fact they are actively NOT looking for them.
