This week is a tale of two deals.
One that is being done, thanks to Labour, will cost this country a fortune and is a major strategic blunder.
The other deal hasn’t been done, yet is the one that this country needs and should have got.
It exposes once again a Labour Government that talks tough but is utterly misguided and pathetic in delivery.
Keir Starmer as Prime Minister has allowed illegal immigration to explode to record levels.
A further close to 7,000 people have been allowed to cross from France to England on small boats this year already.
They aren’t being taken back to France. Labour refuse to leave the ECHR. So this isn’t going to stop.
Meanwhile it seems the Chagos Islands Surrender Treaty will sadly be signed off and will go ahead.
It amounts to a costly humiliation: this country pays Mauritius a fortune and we hand them sovereignty over the Chagos Islands.
A diabolical decision from a Government hammering pensioners, farmers and small businesses whilst happy to sign off on giving huge amounts of money away. It is frankly disgusting.
As Nigel Farage highlighted yesterday:
“The Chagos Islands surrender means we will pay Mauritius £90m a year for 99 years.
“If inflation averages at 3%, it will cost us over £50bn.
“This is a terrible deal for British taxpayers.”
It is quite simply a painful humiliation.
Meanwhile the deal that this country does need and should have, is one that the Government have failed to secure.
Trump’s America First tariff regime - now dubbed Liberation Day - is set to come in today.
President Trump’s argument is that the current set-up isn’t fair trade and it’s actually America that loses out.
He is particularly hostile towards the European Union. Thanks to Brexit, the UK is now free to negotiate our own deals.
But sadly Labour have failed to seal a carve out deal in time.
It may have helped if our Government wasn’t now stuffed full of lefty politicians who have said some appalling things about Trump over the years.
Alarmingly, the USA now also has concerns about the UK’s declining freedom of expression and freedom of speech.
As the Americans have now made clear:
“US-UK relations share a mutual respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
“However, as Vice-President Vance has said, we are concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom.
“It is important that the UK respect and protect freedom of expression.”
The public’s verdict on the direction that Labour are taking this country is pretty clear as well.
Just this week YouGov recorded a dire 14% approval rating for the Government, the joint record lowest since Starmer’s Labour came into power.
A massive 68% now disapprove of what the Government are doing.
This tale of two deals illustrates the point perfectly: one that harms this country being forced through by Labour, who have failed to seal the UK-US agreement that we should have.
Some will get their say in the upcoming 1st May elections, with Reform UK clearly now the main challenger.
Thanks Mike, for continuing the gruesome task of reporting the UK's downhill slide into What?!
"How low can you go?" - could be the theme of a list of articles describing the events of the Labour/Starmer Government's planned (my opinion) degradation of the once great United Kingdom.
I think "peaceful", regular protests, of the citizens, well organized, might get the ball rolling.
No guarantees of course but at least a start. Door to door recruitment to explain the consequences of the Labour policies and reveal further their Globalist intentions to not just the UK but all of Europe homogenized into a super-state governed by Brussels and the EU elites.
The final outcome to be a vote of no-confidence in the Starmer government and labour policies.
Hold on tight British friends.
It begs the question why they're still ahead or joint top with Reform if only 14% approve of them. Why is it not reflected in the polls????
