Deal Rumblings, Voters Back Leaving & Unpopular Amnesty
Good morning and welcome back to Heaver News!
As ever it was great to read some of the recent comments from paid supporters of my newsletter. When it comes to Reform UK recently breaking through with their all-time high 10% showing in a Red Wall poll, RW52 said:
“Looks like the momentum is starting and we haven't begun yet.”
It is certainly true that Reform’s support could grow further and quickly if the Government botch their negotiation with Brussels.
Specifically on that Deal, paid supporter Maureen pointed out how;
“It is indeed extraordinary that the blueprint of the Protocol amendments have not been shared with the DUP or ERG.
“Surely they are all in this together. Transparency, openness and accountability is their mantra so let them live up to it.”
Yet there is still no sign of the PM’s Deal with Brussels. Just plenty of noise around it.
ERG and DUP MPs are frustrated that Rishi Sunak’s Government haven’t involved them more in the Protocol negotiations. That could be a fatal mistake by the Government.
Rumours of Boris Johnson opposing the Deal and setting off a new leadership challenge continue.
Plus this weekend there is further talk of resignations, with Steve Baker’s name now being mentioned.
You have to wonder why the Government are so keen to still keep the details under wraps.
Another example of how ‘hardliners’ like Lee Anderson are actually much more in touch with public opinion than lefty establishment types.
Redfield and Wilton find way more voters in favour of leaving the ECHR than remaining if it allows the Rwanda policy to go ahead. That includes a whopping 61% of Conservative voters.
And when it comes to the death penalty, a clear majority of Brits are still in favour of it being used.
Such research outlines once more who the fringe, out of touch set are - and it isn’t those like Lee Anderson.
The Government’s plan to fast track asylum applications without face-to-face interviews is not popular.
A desperate panic move amounting to amnesty, it is being put forward to clear the backlog. But it has been widely criticised as the boats keep crossing from France.
Though such an approach is backed by a majority of Labour voters, more Brits overall oppose this approach - including 61% of Conservative voters.
A Conservative Government out of touch with their own voters then?
when This Govt falls Reform will be there for True Brexiteers, unlike some people here we still believe in Britian and putting British People First.
You are dreaming again Michael, Reform and Tice are going absolutely nowhere. They are not even close to running a serious party.
