It was quite the moment.
The Prime Minister, backed in Parliament by a large majority of MPs, lashing out against a party with just 5 seats.
Well, at the moment anyway.
The truth is that Keir Starmer knows that the Reform revolution is gathering pace.
That’s why Starmer lashed out at Nigel Farage yesterday, comparing the Reform Leader to Liz Truss.
It was the type of speech you’d expect to see from a Party Leader seeking to narrow the polls in the run up to the General Election. Desperate and panicked.
Yet, we are still years away from the next General Election.
But the PM now clearly recognises that the next election will be Reform vs. Labour. And there’s only one side with momentum right now.
One of the most exciting elements of the Reform rise is the way in which many who didn’t even vote at the 2024 GE are now engaging.
As Ed Hodgson of More In Common recently laid out:
“The Tories fall below 20% for the first time in our tracking, and Reform reach above 30% for the first time too.
“Worth taking a step back and seeing just how quickly things have changed in the last few months.
“Six months ago this week, the Tories were on 30%, enjoying a 3pt lead over Labour and a 12pt lead over Reform.
“Now the Conservative and Reform numbers have essentially flipped.”
A big element of this is non-voters from the last election now backing Reform:
“And finally this Sankey shows where all these changes are coming from - the Conservatives losing a big chunk of their votes to Reform, Labour losing votes in all directions, and Reform winning over a big number of 2024 non-voters.”
This isn’t just about polls. Let’s look at some more actual results from local by-elections that took place this week.
Elections across Essex were disgracefully cancelled last minute this year, but by-elections are still setting down a very clear marker.
An election in Castle Point saw the people of Canvey Island back Reform with over 50% of the votes and the Conservatives a distant second on just 17%.
Whilst in Carmarthenshire in Wales, Reform smashed Labour 42% to 23% to gain a local seat there as well.
You can see why Starmer and his allies are so rattled.
The problem they have is that the Labour Party are delivering another high tax, high immigration, weak border Government.
And voters have clearly had enough of it already.
He has the audacity to say they (labour) will put money in your pockets , and yet they promised this in their manifesto and then did the opposite. He asks if we can trust Nigel Farage and yet everyone has seen we can't trust starmer and labour . Reform and ex labour voters need to hold the line and realise labours promises will be false once again just to regain voters, don't fall for it !
Reform will lose thousands of votes if they continue saying they’ll scrap the two child benefit restriction. Cancelling this will only benefit those with large families and virtually none of those are indigenous British. If Nigel F wants to send people off to whatever party Rupert Lowe starts up then scrapping this will cause the exodus.
