Starmer had no plan whatsoever.

It is a shocking legacy.

Keir Starmer proved that Labour had no real plan for power.

Despite commanding a huge parliamentary majority, Labour chose to continue with the Tory legacy.

The illegal migrant boats have kept coming. Net Zero has continued to deliver higher energy prices. Workers and businesses have been punished more and more with even higher taxes. Welfare spending has absolutely exploded.

So Starmer leaves behind a disgraceful legacy, full of empty sound bites and a complete lack of positive action.

Here’s what the public have made of it, per Opinium:

“As Starmer leaves office, the public’s assessment of his premiership is overwhelmingly negative.

“Nearly seven in ten (69%) say his government has not been a success, while only 21% believe it has been successful.

“More strikingly, 48% say their opinion of Starmer became more negative during his time as Prime Minister, compared with just 15% whose opinion improved.

“The Labour Party’s brand also suffered during its time in Government.

“Almost half (48%) say their opinion of Labour became more negative after it entered office, while only 13% say it became more positive.”

That Andy Burnham now comes in without any real mandate is outrageous.

All of the research shows big public demand for a General Election.

Just how long will Burnham’s Labour run away from public opinion for?

Burnham is likely to get an early, temporary bounce. Will he have the bottle to try and capitalise on this with a snap vote - or hang on until the bitter end?

What the latest MRP mega poll tells us is that as Starmer departs, Labour would currently lose 216 seats to Reform alone.

It turns out that just talking about ‘change’, as the country declines across the board, isn’t good enough.

So Starmer serves up a good lesson of what not to do in Government.

The Labour Leader managed to become the most unpopular Prime Minister on record which takes some doing.

Instead, you must have a plan. You must implement it quickly. You must do what you promised.
