From Rishi Sunak standing behind a lectern reading ‘stop the boats’ to Keir Starmer’s ‘smash the gangs’ pledge, our country is being failed spectacularly.
It is common of course for politicians to talk tough and then try to spin the eventual outcome as being what they had intended.
But Prime Ministers and Governments find that far harder to do when cold hard facts disprove the spin.
So here we have it: both Labour and Conservative Governments have collectively allowed over 150,000 mostly young men to cross from France to England on small boats.
A further 592 people crossed on 11 boats on Sunday alone. This is still ongoing. It is insanity.
The tough talk from Labour and the Tories has failed. Neither party has implemented the action required to stop this crisis. The outcome of that is horrifying.
