Anderson Bursts Some Bubbles
Plain-speaking Lee Anderson is my sort of Conservative. He is much more in touch, on a range of issues, with public opinion than many of his colleagues and certainly the lefty establishment.
I suspect many of those who voted Tory for the first time in 2019 - flipping formerly safe Labour seats to the Conservatives - will be keen for Rishi Sunak’s Government to follow the Anderson agenda.
How likely is that? Don’t hold your breath. We’ve got a Home Secretary who says we need to ditch ECHR and there’s still little sign of the Government doing that anytime soon.
Anderson meanwhile has predictably caused a furore in Westminster. Lefty media and those who seem to spend their whole time arguing and complaining on Twitter were sent into overdrive by Anderson’s promotion to Conservative Party Deputy Chairman.
As we saw with Brexit, those who actually represent the majority view in the country are somehow painted out as ‘hardliners’. Well, compared to what?
Bubbles have been burst all week by Anderson’s comments. The reality is on issues like the death penalty and ECHR he is far more mainstream than his niche whingy critics.
Let’s go through what voters in this country actually think. I guarantee much of this research you simply won’t see discussed on Remainstream media at all.
