Brexit Bites Burnham
They still refuse to listen.
Yep, they’ve made a huge mistake.
But at least everyone can now see what the Labour Party is still all about: open borders.
Remarkably, after getting properly stuffed at the recent elections by the former Brexit Party, Labour’s big idea is to rejoin the European Union.
So essentially this is a Labour Party that hasn’t listened, still doesn’t care and is asking for further electoral oblivion.
Just looking at the economics alone, attaching ourselves to a badly struggling Brussels and their EU rules is a ridiculous idea.
The Rejoiners so keen to take the EU line on everything are ignoring reality.
Germany has just seen unemployment rise above 3 million, recently hitting a 12-year high.
Macron’s France is struggling even more, with unemployment now rising above 8%.
Yet Labour’s renewed push for EU open borders is what truly underlines that this party just doesn’t get it.
Both Wes Streeting and Andy Burnham have spoken in favour of a Rejoin EU agenda.
With the Makerfield by-election on the horizon, it seems Burnham is now keen to avoid repeating that desire. For now.
Of course the by-election is high stakes: if Burnham does win, he is likely to quickly become the next Labour Leader and Prime Minister.
Yet strangely, on top of Brexit, Burnham seems reluctant to talk about plans potentially for taxes to be hiked even higher.
As Alex Wickham has reported, this is the line from Burnham’s Spokesperson:
“Andy is fully focused on working hard for every vote in Makerfield so he can represent them in Parliament.
“Andy is not standing on a national manifesto at this election; he is standing to make a difference for the people of Makerfield and to bring the change he has delivered in Greater Manchester to the national stage.”
It seems with Labour being rumbled for wanting to rejoin the European Union, open borders and even higher taxes, they are reluctant to talk about any of this during the by-election.
Of course I’m sure Reform UK will be helpfully pointing this out to voters, in what will be a critical vote for the people of Makerfield - and the country.
Because when Labour talk about ‘change’ and the ‘status quo’, what they tend to forget is that they have delivered even more of the disastrous Tory agenda.
The boats have kept coming. Energy bills have continued rising. Taxes have been hiked and hiked again - to fund huge increases in welfare spending. The country’s decline has continued.
This disastrous cocktail of weak borders and high taxes now sees this country hit an 11-year high when it comes to youth unemployment, with 16% of youngsters now out of work.
So we’re witnessing a Labour Government that has failed across the board and is increasingly desperate.
This EU push is a desperate last gasp from the establishment. So the pro-Brexit majority now have the chance to tell them again.

Good email Michael....fortunately I don't think Burnham stands a chance in Brexit voting Makerfield. Like the rest of them, he couldn't care less about the country and its indigenous people, he just wants a stepping stone to Number 10 and I.can see him losing out big time, which will serve him right. What a shower they are. 🙋
