He’ll Be Back?
Speculation surrounding Boris Johnson is intensifying as rumours continue to swirl as to what his next move will be.
This isn’t exactly helpful for Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak whose leadership battle is being somewhat overshadowed by the daily speculation as to what the current PM’s next move will be.
But this was always inevitable given still retains significant support from Conservative voters.
I can reveal that the Conservative Post’s petition to get Boris on the leadership ballot for Tory members to vote on has now been signed by 8,000 Conservative members in just over four days.
That is an astonishing level of support that reflects Conservative grassroots feeling.
Who quite knows what could happen over the next year: there has been speculation that Boris could face a by-election, perhaps start a new political party and there are now calls for him to explicitly rule himself out of wanting to be PM into the future.
There has even been a sensational claim from a Conservative pundit that Boris may be eyeing a return as PM next year.
