BBC Shambles Strengthens Case To End Licence Fee
Public support for the TV Tax is fading fast.
The drama surrounding Gary Lineker and the BBC over recent days highlights once again why the unpopular BBC Licence Fee should be ditched.
Despite whatever some lefties have convinced themselves, the Licence Fee is viewed overwhelmingly as unfair.
Some cheeky buggers have tried to suggest that the Licence Fee could be replaced by the Beeb being funded through general taxation. An absurd, ludicrous idea.
Fundamentally in 2023 people should be free to decide if they want to use the BBC’s services and whether they want to pay to do so.
Public support for the BBC being funded by advertising or voluntary subscription is far larger than that for the ridiculous Licence Fee or a tax raid.
The BBC has paid some TV talent ridiculous wages, multiple times what the Prime Minister earns. How can that possibly be justified?
Some are choosing to miss the point with the Gary Lineker row. The public wouldn’t care what he tweets - if it wasn’t for the fact that the BBC is funded by the Licence Fee.
The Conservatives have talked about scrapping the Fee but recently gone quiet. Another area where there has been a lack of decisive action, just boring endless briefings about what they are considering.
As for the Lineker/BBC situation, a statement has just gone out from the BBC’s Director-General.
