BBC Out Of Touch As Ever
The BBC was true to form last night, completely ignoring a major political issue in the PM Debate they hosted.
That was despite the debate taking place in pro-Leave Stoke, with an audience of Conservative voters. You couldn’t make it up!
YouGov’s research shows quite clearly that as of 14th July 2022, Immigration & Asylum is the second most important issue for both Conservative voters and Leavers.
Yet bizarrely the BBC chose not to ask a question about either sky-high levels of legal net migration nor about the illegal migration boats crisis.
This bonkers decision, that once again confirms just how out of touch the BBC now is, sparked a fierce backlash. Nigel Farage said:
“Should we congratulate the taxpayer-funded BBC for completely outdoing themselves on this debate? Not a single mention of illegal immigration, or the record numbers of legal migrants either. The whole Westminster system is out of touch.”
Whilst Political Commentator Patrick O’Flynn was far from amused either:
Why did the BBC decide that immigration wasn't an issue that deserved to be debated tonight? Story selection is at the heart of BBC bias.
England’s population rose by almost 3.5 million or 6.6% from 2011 to 2021, with over 57% of this due to net migration.
Meanwhile illegal migration across from France has continued at record levels this year. The latest figures show that last week alone a further 610 people came across on 15 boats.
I will keep highlighting these issues in the Brexiteer Bulletin even though some in mainstream media are desperate to ignore them.
The issue of whether the Rwanda policy will actually ever happen and UK leaving the ECHR in future clearly weren’t deemed important enough to be discussed in the BBC’s Debate.
It serves as yet another example of why the BBC Licence Fee must be ended and replaced with a system of advertising and/or voluntary subscriptions.
Truss Wins Conservative Debate
Liz Truss will be the happier of the two leadership contenders coming out of the debate.
Remember that it is only Conservative members who now have a vote in this leadership contest.
And Opinium’s snap poll found that whilst Labour voters preferred Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss won over Conservative voters by a decent margin.
Given Sunak was already behind in the polling of Tory members, that gap may have now grown further.
Reform Party Warning
Yesterday’s Brexiteer Bulletin reported on Reform UK Leader Richard Tice’s pledge to stand 600 candidates at the next General Election.
The impact that could have should not be underestimated. The readers’ poll I included in the story found that 94% of you were considering voting for Reform.
A major challenge for the next Conservative Leader who will need to complete Brexit or potentially face many voters switching to Reform.
Even if the Tories complete Brexit (very unlikely) I am still voting Reform in the next election.
